Connect: North Korea is a registered charity whose mission is to connect the international community to North Koreans through sharing stories, events, and education programmes.

We aim to support and reach the 30,000 North Korean refugees worldwide and to focus on specific campaigns for over 700 North Korean refugees in the UK.

We are an independent, non-religious, and non- political registered charity founded in 2017 and based in New Malden, London0home to the largest exile community outside of Asia.

  • Michael Glendinning


    Michael founded Connect North Korea, in 2017. he has been the Director of the organization since its inception. He holds a BA in English from the University of Gloucestershire and an MA in English from the University of Leicester.
  • Jihyun Park


    Jihyun Park is the Assistant Director of Connect: North Korea She manages our Korean-language output, builds our relations with North Korean refugees, and oversees all our projects. She holds a Mathematics and Science degree from a university in North Korea Prior to leaving North Korea, she was a teacher in a high school. She gave testimony of her experiences at the UN Commision of Inquiry's London hearings. Her story has featured in a high-profile Amnesty International campaign, various magazines and newspapers, and in two short documentaries.

  • Alice Chamberlain
    Alice works as a Trusts and Statutory Fundraiser at the National Deaf Children's Society. Prior to this she worked at an inclusive cycling charity and a women's charity where she gained experience securing income from a variety of sources including trusts, events, coporate partnerships and indivisual giving. She is committed to championion human rights and ending violence against women and girls. Her intersts include feminism, history, exploring and sampling all varieties of cheese and wine!
  • Debbie Moore
    Debbie graduated with a degree in Business and Finance in 1986 and went on to commence training as a Chartered Accountant with Arnold Hill and Co in London for 2 years before starting her family and switching career teaching Mathematics and Business. In 1996 she co-founded Other Creative, a creative agency that has worked closely with charities for 21 years. She remains a Director and owner of Other and as a consultant to start-up business.
  • Jennifer Holroyd
    Jennifer is an experienced commercial layer and former Director/ Partner at a major law firm and has secondment industry experience in the public sector. She has a decade of experience as a charity trustee in differennt sectors including at Islington CVS(as Tresurer), and Burma Campaign.
  • Jinhee Lee
    Jinhee is a senior marketing professional with over a decade of global marketing and professional service industry experience across a range of sectors, including FMCG, Tech, Retail, Aviation, Government and Advisory, in Asia and Europe. She studied BA in Business Administration and pursues continuous learning and development. Jinhee believes everyone on our beautiful planet deserves to have pease, safety and love.
  • Maggie Ahn
    Maggie Ahn works in analyystics at Paypal and has significant domain expertise in digital marketing. She holds a Bachelor of Arts degree in Political Science from Yale University and an MBA from INSEAD. Though Maggie originally hails from Texas, she has grown up hearing stories of narrow escapes from North Korea from close and distant family members and personally finds meaning in connecting with the largest community or North Koreans outside the Korean peninsula.
  • Richard Moreton
    Richard is a chartered accountant and has been a trustee since 2018. In addition to sitting on the board of trustees he is also a member of the Aduit and Rist Committee. Richard's background includes working as Senior Finance Manager where he runs day-to-day finance operations as well as successfully completing value-add finance projects such as implementation of a European-wide project Finance System and the centralisation fo full accounting fuctions for European legal entitles into one location.
  • Robin Walker
    Robin Walker is an experienced business leader who worked in the food sector in the UK and internationally for 40+ years as a senior executive working at C-suite level in several large coporates. He now has a portfolio of Charity and Non Executive Director roles to employ that wealth of experience for the benefit of others. He currently sits on the board of Berry Gardens Ltd as Deputy Chairman and on the boards of James Hutton Ltd, PizzaRossa Ltd and Shirlaws Group.
  • Sultak Torshkhoeve
    Before joining Connect: North Korea, Sultan spent over 20 years driving strategic organisational growth for various coporate, public and non-profic organisations in USA, UK and Europe, within a broad range of industries and causes.
    Sultan brings an in-depth expertise in marketing, fundraising, business development, partnershop building, sponsorship and brand management. He holds an advanced degree in International Development an Non-Profit Management (MPA) from New York Universitys Wagner School of Public Service.
